Job summary

Rain Carbon Inc. in Hamilton, ON, is seeking a skilled R&D Product Development Scientist to advance carbon materials derived from Green Petroleum Coke, Calcined Petroleum Coke, needle coke and other sustainable precursors for energy storage applications.

You will bridge research and manufacturing, optimize carbon structure and graphitization, and support transfer from lab-scale to pilot production, collaborating with application and process teams to deliver high-performance, scalable BAM for

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science; PhD or equivalent experience.
In-depth expertise in carbon materials, carbon precursors, and graphite/graphite-related analysis.
Experience scaling lab processes to pilot production and collaboration with industrial partners.

Responsibilities

Develop and optimize carbon materials from GPC, CPC, and needle coke for energy storage applications.
Design and optimize processes to achieve desired carbon crystallinity and surface characteristics.
Perform advanced material characterization (XRD, Raman, XPS, BET) and analyze results.
Collaborate with process and application teams to scale from lab to pilot production.
