Job summary

We are currently looking for a Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) for a Long Term Care client in L'Original, Ontario. Working under the direct or indirect supervision of the Physiotherapist, our assistants will work in close contact with residents to help them implement treatment programs and achieve the goals set out for them.

Schedule: 25 hours per week (TEMPORARY COVERAGE: February 3 - 25 2025). Qualifications include PTA graduate, strong multitasking, good communication with elderly residents,

Qualifications

• Must be a Physiotherapy Assistant graduate or equivalent.
• Excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
• Ability to communicate well with the elderly, supervisors, and teammates.
• Experience in Long Term Care or retirement home is an asset.
• Police check for the Vulnerable Sector is required.
• 2 STEP TB Test and/or Chest X-Ray is required.
• Access to a reliable vehicle with a valid driver's license is required; not bus accessible.
• Relocation not considered; temporary position; resident of L'Original area.

Responsibilities

• Assist with conducting group exercises for residents or lead one-on-one exercises under the Physiotherapist’s direction.
• Encourage residents to reach goals of their treatment programs where appropriate.
• Document treatments and residents' progress after each session.
• Assist residents with walking, sitting, and safe transferring.
• Monitor health status changes and report to the Physiotherapist or supervisor.
• Perform treatments such as ice/hot packs, ultrasound therapy, TENS, or hot wax.
