Job summary

Lifemark Seniors Wellness is seeking a Casual Part-Time Physiotherapy Assistant in Huntsville, ON. You will support a supervising physiotherapist, assist with treatment plans for residents in residential care, and help run group exercise classes in a safe, therapeutic setting.

Ideal candidates hold a PTA/OTA diploma or a degree in Kinesiology or related healthcare field, with LTC exposure considered an asset; a recent Vulnerable Sector check and TB clearance are required.

Qualifications

• PTA/OTA diploma or degree in Kinesiology or similar healthcare background.
• LTC experience is an asset.
• Valid Vulnerable Sector screening within 6 months.
• Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the supervising physiotherapist in performing components of the treatment plans for residents in residential care communities.
• Perform treatments as prescribed by the supervising Physiotherapist, including gait training, balance exercises, transfer training, range of motion, strengthening, and modalities (heat, ice, ultrasound, TENS).
• Deliver dynamic, safe and therapeutically beneficial exercise classes for groups of residents.
• Set up and prepare equipment and clean up after residents' treatments.
• Ensure that the resident gym and treatment areas are safe and tidy.
• Maintain regular communication with the physiotherapist regarding changes or concerns about a resident's status or treatment interventions.
• Record daily treatments using Seniors Wellness' web-based system.

• Assist the supervising physiotherapist in performing various components of the treatment plans for individuals living in residential care communities
• Perform various treatments as prescribed and directed by the supervising Physiotherapist including but not limited to gait training, balance exercises, transfer training, range of motion, strengthening, application of modalities. (i.e. heat, ice, ultrasound, TENS)
• Deliver dynamic, safe and therapeutically beneficial exercise classes for groups of residents
• Set up and prepare equipment and clean up after residents' treatments
• Ensure that the resident gym and treatment areas are safe and tidy
• Maintain regular ongoing communication with the physiotherapist regarding any changes or concerns about a resident's status or treatment interventions
• Record daily treatments using Seniors Wellness' proprietary, web-based system

Qualifications:

• PTA/OTA diploma, degree in Kinesiology or a similar healthcare background
• Previous experience within an LTC setting an asset.
• A valid Vulnerable Sector screening check (within 6 months)
