Job summary

Lifemark Seniors Wellness is seeking a Permanent Part-Time Physiotherapy Assistant to join our Hamilton team. You will support the supervising physiotherapist with resident treatment plans in long-term care environments, delivering both individual and group exercise sessions.

Qualified candidates hold a PTA/OTA diploma or a degree in Kinesiology (or similar), with LTC experience preferred and current clearances.

Qualifications

• PTA/OTA diploma or equivalent, with a degree in Kinesiology or similar healthcare background.
• Previous LTC experience is an asset.
• Vulnerable Sector screening clearance within 6 months.
• Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux) clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Assist supervising physiotherapist with treatment plans for residents in care facilities.
• Perform prescribed treatments including gait training, balance, transfer training, ROM, strengthening, and modalities (heat, ice, ultrasound, TENS).
• Lead dynamic exercise classes for groups of residents.
• Set up, prep, and clean equipment; maintain a safe, tidy treatment space.
• Ensure resident gym areas are safe and well-organized; communicate with the physiotherapist about changes.
• Document daily treatments in the web-based system.

Lifemark Seniors Wellness is looking for a Permanent Part-Time Physiotherapy Assistant to join our growing team!

Location: Hamilton, ON

Schedule: 21 hours/week

Status: Permanent Part-Time

In this role you will:

• Assist the supervising physiotherapist in performing various components of the treatment plans for individuals living in residential care communities
• Perform various treatments as prescribed and directed by the supervising Physiotherapist including but not limited to gait training, balance exercises, transfer training, range of motion, strengthening, application of modalities. (i.e. heat, ice, ultrasound, TENS)
• Deliver dynamic, safe and therapeutically beneficial exercise classes for groups of residents
• Set up and prepare equipment and clean up after residents' treatments
• Ensure that the resident gym and treatment areas are safe and tidy
• Maintain regular ongoing communication with the physiotherapist regarding any changes or concerns about a resident's status or treatment interventions
• Record daily treatments using Seniors Wellness' proprietary, web-based system

Qualifications:

• PTA/OTA diploma, degree in Kinesiology or a similar healthcare background
• Previous experience within an LTC setting an asset.
• A valid Vulnerable Sector screening check (within 6 months)
• Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance
