Job summary

A healthcare provider in Ontario is seeking a Physiotherapy Assistant to support residents in a Long Term Care facility in Delhi. The role involves assisting with therapy sessions, documenting progress, and ensuring resident safety. Ideal candidates should have a PTA qualification, excellent multi-tasking skills, and experience in elder care. This is a temporary position with a schedule of 26 hours per week. Candidates must be local residents and will not be considered for relocation.

Qualifications

• Graduated as a Physiotherapy Assistant or equivalent.
• Excellent communication skills, especially with elderly patients.
• Experience in a Long Term Care setting is a strong asset.
• Experience working in a Long Term Care or Retirement home would be a definite asset.
• Current police check for the Vulnerable Sector is required.
• Valid 2 STEP TB Test and/or Chest X-ray is required.
• Access to a reliable vehicle and valid drivers license is required.
• We will NOT consider RELOCATION - Must be a resident of Delhi and/or the Surrounding Area.

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting group and one-on-one exercises with residents.
• Document treatments and progress after each session.
• Monitor changes in health status and report to supervisors.
• Assist residents with walking, sitting, and safe transferring.
• Monitor any changes to a resident’s health status and report to the Physiotherapist or supervisor.
• Perform treatments such as applying an ice pack or hot pack, ultrasound therapy, TENS (electrotherapy), hot wax, etc.

Overview

We are currently looking for a Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) for a Long Term Care client in Delhi, Ontario. Working under the direct or indirect supervision of the Physiotherapist, our assistants will work in close contact with residents to help them implement treatment programs and achieve the goals set out for them.

Schedule

26 hours per week (Temporary Coverage: May 5th - 30th)

Job Duties

• Assist with conducting group exercises for residents, and/or lead one-on-one exercises with the assigned resident as directed by the Physiotherapist.
• Encourage residents to reach the goals of their planned treatment programs if appropriate.
• Document treatments and residents' progress after each therapy session per the Physiotherapist’s instructions.
• Assist residents with walking, sitting, and safe transferring.
• Monitor any changes to a resident’s health status and report to the Physiotherapist or supervisor.
• Perform treatments such as applying an ice pack or hot pack, ultrasound therapy, TENS (electrotherapy), hot wax, etc.
