About the Opportunity

The Physiotherapist reports to the Health Services Manager and assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations, or disabilities. Physiotherapy assessment involves obtaining a detailed medical history, performing specific and standardized tests and evaluation procedures to determine a physical diagnosis. Holistic treatment programs are developed using exercises, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical, and hydrotherapy techniques to assist the patient in regaining and/or maintaining an optimal level of function.

The Physiotherapist is educated and communicates with other health disciplines, the general public, family members, and caregivers regarding health promotion, physiotherapy treatment, and patient management. This position provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students and supervision of physiotherapy assistants and aides.

As a member of a clinical team, the Physiotherapist collaborates with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives, participates in the evaluation of team effectiveness, and solves problems and shares responsibilities.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree or entry-level Master's program in Physiotherapy from an accredited university
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists (Provincial licensing body)
  • Computer skills (statistics input, word processing, Outlook)
  • Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS)
  • WHMIS training and certification
  • Additional courses/education/training in many specialized areas of practice (e.g., cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, stroke rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance training, etc.)
  • Access to a reliable vehicle as community visits may be required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
  • Permanent Full-time Position; 75 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Benefits

$35.86 - $45.29 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
