Qualifications

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, Planning & Development Primary Health Care, the Kinesiologist is responsible for development, implementation and continuous quality improvement of program components - particularly in the area of exercise, physical activity, and healthy lifestyle counselling – that aims to optimize healthy lifestyle choices, health promotion, and chronic disease prevention/management in a primary health care setting. Working as a part of an inter-disciplinary team, the Kinesiologist supports the Chronic Disease Management team with a particular focus on cardiac rehabilitation. The Kinesiologist assesses clients with a wide range of risk factors, chronic conditions, and limitations.

The Kinesiologist ensures that the principles and practices that guide NSH such as the vision, mission, values, expected behaviors, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and interprofessional collaboration are integrated within the support that is provided by the work that they do and through the messages they deliver.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology required
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in physical activity/exercise and lifestyle education, testing, instruction, and programming required
  • Two (2) years' experience working with people with chronic disease in a Primary Health Care or community setting required
  • Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology Certified Exercise Physiologist (CSEP-CEP) and/or American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Exercise Specialist Certification required
  • BCLS and First Aid required
  • Advanced knowledge, skills and proficiency in the area of exercise Physiology, aging, nutrition, etc.
  • Experience with individual and group education and facilitation utilizing adult education and motivational enhancement principles
  • Demonstrated person centered/family focused, diversity relevant and population health approaches to care
  • Demonstrates innovation in program planning, implementation and evaluation
  • Demonstrates strong partnership, collaboration and community development skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, Mi'kmaw preferred

Compensation and Benefits

$31.91 - $37.24 Hourly
