Qualifications

About the Opportunity

The Physiotherapist assesses, diagnoses and treats patients in a care setting who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities. Physiotherapy assessment involves obtaining a detailed medical history, performing specific and standardized tests and evaluation procedures to determine a physical diagnosis. Holistic treatment programs are developed using exercises, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical and hydrotherapy techniques to assist the patient in regaining and/or maintaining an optimal level of function. The Physiotherapist educates and communicates with other health disciplines, the general public, family members and caregivers regarding health promotion, physiotherapy treatment and patient management. The Physiotherapist provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students and supervision of physiotherapy assistants and aides. The Physiotherapist reports to a Health Services Manager and as a member of a clinical team, collaborates with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives, participates in the evaluation of team effectiveness, and solves problems and shares responsibilities.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Master's or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university
  • Membership or eligibility for membership with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists
  • Computer skills (statistics input, word processing, EMR)
  • Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS)
  • Annual Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System training and certification (WHMIS)
  • Physiotherapy is a diverse profession requiring additional courses/education/training in many specialized areas of practice, e.g. cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, stroke rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance training, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Long Assignment, Part-time position; 52.5 hours bi-weekly
  • This position is approximately 19 months in length

Compensation and Incentives

$35.86 - $45.29 Hourly
