Job Description

In accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. Continuous improvement of quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Coordinator of Therapy Programs, this role is responsible for unit-level therapy programs. This includes assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating therapy care plans on both an individual and group basis for an assigned number of residents. The incumbent provides work direction and delegates tasks to Rehabilitation Assistants and Rehabilitation Assistant/Drivers.

Travel may be required for this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health and may involve the use of a personal vehicle.

Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience

• Graduation from a recognized university program in Physiotherapy.
• Current full registration with the College of Physical Therapists of BC (CPTBC).
• Eligible for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA).
• Minimum of two (2) years of recent related experience.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with others, especially the elderly and individuals with physical or mental handicaps.
• Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
• Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting and moving residents safely.
