Job Description

In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. Continuous improvement in quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Coordinator of Therapy Programs, this role is responsible for unit-level therapy programs. This includes assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating therapy care plans for an assigned number of residents, both on an individual and group basis. The role also involves providing work direction and delegating tasks to Rehabilitation Assistants and Rehabilitation Assistant/Drivers.

Travel may be required for this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health and may necessitate the use of a personal vehicle.

Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience

• Graduation from a recognized university program in Physiotherapy.
• Current full registration with the College of Physical Therapists of BC (CPTBC).
• Eligibility for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA).
• Minimum of two (2) years' recent related experience.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to interact effectively with others, especially the elderly and individuals with physical or mental handicaps.
• Strong organizational and workload prioritization skills.
• Physical capability to perform duties safely, including lifting and moving residents.
