Physiotherapist
The Physiotherapist plays a vital role within the interdisciplinary healthcare team, primarily supporting patients in an in-patient medical/surgical unit. This role involves providing assessment, intervention, consultation, and education to help patients achieve their rehabilitation goals and improve overall function.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients, including medical history, test results, and rehabilitation objectives.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address physical impairments and enhance strength, mobility, and overall function.
- Determine appropriate treatment techniques and assistive devices; re-evaluate progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Educate patients, caregivers, and families on therapeutic exercises, injury prevention strategies, and lifestyle modifications.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and external partners to ensure proper physiotherapy follow-up, access to equipment, and continuity of care through home exercise programs.
- Maintain detailed and up-to-date patient records, tracking progress and treatment outcomes.
- Actively participate in wellness and rehabilitation-focused initiatives.
Education Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution.
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
- Membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) is preferred.
- Additional certifications or continuing education in specialized areas of physiotherapy are considered an asset.
- Post-graduate training in manual therapy or Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT) is an asset.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Professional demeanor and compassionate approach when working with patients and their families.
- Familiarity with technical and mechanical aspects of physiotherapy modalities and equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
