St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto is seeking a Physician Assistant to provide advanced, patient-centered care across inpatient wards, ED consultations, surgical assisting and ambulatory clinics, collaborating with physicians to optimize outcomes and safety.
The PA assesses patients, develops management plans, participates in operating room activities, and supports pre- and post-operative care in a fast-paced hospital environment where EHR proficiency and strong teamwork are essential.
This Physician Assistant (PA) position works collaboratively within St. Joseph’s Health Centre to provide advanced care that optimizes patient outcomes and enhances safety, efficiency, effectiveness and accessibility to care for patients that reflects the vision, mission and values of St. Joseph’s Health Centre. The PA’s practice spans inpatient ward consultations, Emergency Department consultations, surgical assisting, and ambulatory clinics.
This physician assistant role will be integrated into the inpatient and consultation service, where the PA will have the opportunity to see new and follow-up patients on the wards and to respond to consultation requests from the Emergency Department — performing patient assessments, formulating and implementing management plans, and coordinating ongoing care under the direction and supervision of a physician.
The physician assistant will also be integrated into the operating room and the ambulatory clinics. Here, the PA will provide surgical assisting intra-operatively, participate in pre-operative assessment and post-operative management, and see new and follow-up patients in outpatient clinic — including patient assessment, physical examination, and the use of relevant diagnostic tests.
