Job summary

Xanadu is seeking a highly skilled Fabrication Process Engineer to advance their photonics hardware. You will lead development of production-ready processes for thin-film lithium niobate circuits, owning wafer lots with foundry partners and driving optimization experiments.

The role requires deep expertise in photonics fabrication, metrology, and data analysis, with collaboration across internal teams and external partners. Travel up to 20% may be required.

Qualifications

• PhD in physics, materials science, electrical engineering or related field.
• Experience with integrated photonics and photonics metrology techniques.
• Hands-on fabrication process development of thin-film-lithium-niobate circuits.
• Familiarity with SEM/TEM/AFM/ellipsometry/XRR-XRD/SIMS/Raman.
• Proficient data analysis with Python or MATLAB and related tools.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize fabrication processes for integrated photonic devices.
• Own wafer lots processed at Xanadu’s foundry partners.
• Design and execute fabrication process improvement experiments.
• Define metrology and failure analysis plans to mitigate issues.
• Collaborate with photonics engineers and foundry partners.
• Advance key performance metrics in integrated photonics fabrication.
• Stay informed on photonics fabrication advances and implement learnings.
