Job summary

Grifols Plasma Donation Center in Canada is seeking a dedicated phlebotomist for the Donation room to perform plasmapheresis and maximize donor safety and care. You will manage venipunctures, monitor donors, document procedures and maintain cleanliness across the donor area in an in-person role.

The position requires a year of phlebotomy experience, a high school diploma or higher, and strong interpersonal and computer skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or higher education.
  • At least one year of phlebotomy experience in the hospital/industry.
  • Certification or qualification in recognized courses related to phlebotomy is an asset.
  • Excellent bedside manners and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and related peripherals.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up, disconnecting and operating plasmapheresis machine and performing venipunctures.
  • Calibrating equipment if necessary.
  • Monitoring donors throughout the procedure and reacting appropriately to adverse reactions or equipment errors.
  • Ensuring that donors are safe and comfortable.
  • Accurately documenting the plasmapheresis procedure as directed by the procedures.
  • Disinfecting and cleaning plasmapheresis machines and donor beds as necessary between donors.
  • Confirming that all sample tubes and plasma collection bottles are labeled properly.
  • Flexibility to work in other modules of the donation process (Reception and Processing).

That plasma is used for further manufacturing into therapies to treat a variety of health conditions.

Position Summary

The Donation room staff (Phlebotomist) is responsible for performing the plasmapheresis and ensuring that donor safety and care are maximized.

Position Objective

To maximize donor safety and care and minimize wait times while keeping product quality considerations in mind.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Setting up, disconnecting and operating plasmapheresis machine (equipment preparation and proper waste management of contaminated disposables) and performing venipunctures.
  • Calibrating equipment if necessary.
  • Monitoring donors throughout the procedure and reacting appropriately to adverse reactions or equipment errors.
  • Ensuring that donors are safe and comfortable.
  • Accurately documenting the plasmapheresis procedure as directed by the procedures.
  • Disinfecting and cleaning plasmapheresis machines and donor beds as necessary between donors.
