Your Opportunity:
Practicing within their full scope, the Pharmacy Technician performs all aspects of drug distribution to provide for the effective daily operation of all departmental services and programs leading to safe and effective patient care. Core duties may include, but are not limited to: Preparation, repackaging and final product checking of sterile and non-sterile products, individual patient prescriptions and ward stock. Providing guidance to and assisting with the training and orientation of staff and students. Providing clinical support through obtaining information to facilitate medication reconciliation activities and clarifies discrepancies and/or collects and organizes information to support the provision of direct patient care. Building interactive relationships with all members of the healthcare team including communicating with nursing staff to clarify orders and requests, triaging drug information questions and distribution issues. Maintaining a high standard of performance through completion of internal validation programs that assess proficiency in identified tasks such as aseptic technique, computer order entry, and final product checking. Participating in special projects and programs as assigned. Maintaining department records, statistics and preparing reports as required. PLEASE NOTE: This position is located outside the Calgary city limits and will be based out of High River, Alberta.

As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Regulated Pharmacy Technician registered with the Alberta College of Pharmacists. Fluency in the English language, including excellent communication skills (both written and verbal). Excellent organizational, problem-solving and decision-making ability. Ability to work in teams. Experience with a variety of responsibilities including but not limited to medication order entry, Connect Care/EPIC Willow Pharmacy application knowledge, checking, sterile compounding and unit dose drug distribution systems. Must be accurate, reliable, precise, cooperative and self-motivated. Ability to demonstrate effective service attitude and act with professionalism. Committed to continual personal quality improvement and lifelong learning. Prior experience and certification in sterile compounding (within 2 years). Prior experience and certification in sterile hazardous compounding (within 2 years). Membership with a pharmacy professional organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience within hospital pharmacy setting (within 2 years). Prior experience in rural pharmacy setting (within 2 years). Recent (2+ years) experience and certification preparing & checking oncology products, preferably Cancer Care trained and certified.
