Job summary

Whole Health Pharmacy in Welland, Ontario is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Manager (Designated Manager) to lead our new community pharmacy inside a medical building. This hands-on leadership role focuses on establishing operations, clinical services, and growth through community partnerships.

You will oversee daily operations, manage staff, deliver vaccines, provide medication counselling, grow prescription volume, and build referral relationships with physicians.

Whole Health Pharmacy is a growing community and speciality pharmacy committed to exceptional patient care, clinical excellence, collaboration, and innovation. As part of the Intrepid Health network, we work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive, patient-centred pharmacy services across Ontario.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Pharmacy Manager (Designated Manager) to lead our new pharmacy located within a medical building in Welland. This is a hands‑on leadership and business‑development opportunity for a pharmacist who wants to help establish and grow a community pharmacy.

The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, deliver clinical services, build referral relationships, and grow prescription volume and professional pharmacy services. The pharmacy is expected to begin with fewer than 30 prescriptions per day, with staffing expanding as the business grows

What You’ll Do :

Pharmacy Leadership and Operations

• Serve as the pharmacy’s Designated Manager and oversee all day‑to‑day operations.
• Establish efficient workflows, policies, procedures, and service standards.
• Recruit, train, coach, and support pharmacy team members as the pharmacy grows.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, inventory, purchasing, expenses, and operational performance.
• Use Kroll pharmacy software to support safe, accurate, and efficient operations.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable, and patient‑focused workplace culture.

Patient Care and Clinical Services

• Provide pharmaceutical care, medication counselling, and clinical consultations.
• Conduct medication reviews and clinical assessments.
• Provide minor‑ailment services, prescription adaptations, renewals, and other services within the pharmacist’s authorised scope of practice.
• Administer vaccines and other injectable medications.
• Develop chronic disease management, preventative care, immunisation, and other professional pharmacy programs.
• Maintain a consistently high standard of customer service and patient satisfaction.

Pharmacy Growth and Community Relationships

• Develop strategies to grow the pharmacy from an initial volume of ~30 prescriptions per day.
• Build strong relationships with physicians and other healthcare professionals within the medical building and surrounding community.
• Grow the patient base, prescription volume, and professional services.
• Support patient engagement, physician outreach, marketing, and community initiatives.
• Monitor key performance indicators and implement strategies to achieve clinical, operational, and financial goals.
• Help expand the pharmacy team as prescription volume and operational needs increase.

Compliance, Quality, and Medication Safety

• Ensure compliance with Ontario College of Pharmacists standards, applicable federal and provincial legislation, and organizational policies.
• Maintain medication safety, quality assurance, privacy, documentation, and incident‑management processes.
• Ensure prescriptions and clinical services are delivered safely, accurately, and consistently.
• Maintain effective standard operating procedures and support continuous quality improvement.

What You Bring :

Required Qualifications

• Licensed pharmacist in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
• Eligible and willing to serve as the pharmacy’s Designated Manager.
• Current authorization and required training to administer injections and immunizations in Ontario.
• Community pharmacy experience and a strong understanding of pharmacy operations, workflow, inventory management, and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Commitment to patient‑centred care, medication safety, continuous improvement, relationship‑building, and pharmacy growth.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Pharmacy Manager, Designated Manager, Assistant Pharmacy Manager, or pharmacist team lead.
• Experience using Kroll pharmacy software.
• Experience managing budgets, labour, inventory, and pharmacy performance indicators.
• Experience developing professional services and referral relationships with physicians and community partners.
• Approximately 40–44 hours per week, with weekend coverage as required.
• Initial prescription volume of ~ 30 prescriptions per day.
• Team size will grow with prescription volume and operational needs.
• No on‑site compounding and no methadone dispensing.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary of CA$115,000–$125,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
• Professional‑services incentive equal to 30% of profit from eligible services, subject to program terms.
