Job summary

CareRx Corporation, a leader in senior care pharmacy, seeks a Pharmacy Assistant for our Ottawa site. You will assist in packaging, inventory, and documentation to support high-quality patient care in long-term care communities.

This role offers training if needed and emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and collaborative teamwork in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or certification from an accredited Pharmacy Assistant program is preferred, but not required - training will be provided.
• Experience with KROLL and/or Pacmed an asset.
• Visual acuity, numeracy, detail oriented, manual dexterity for handling strips, bottles and labels.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate prescription records and dispense info via dispensary software.
• Prepare medications for packaging and ensure timely processing.
• Assist inventory and operate PacMed dispensing when needed.
• Manage returns/expired products from nursing homes.
• Prepare creams/solutions and generate production reports.
• Maintain stock, reorder meds, and packaging workflows.
• Maintain confidentiality and a clean, compliant pharmacy environment.

Role Accountabilities

• Ensure precise record-keeping and prescription information from nursing staff is filled via dispensary software
• Prepare medication for compliance packaging and maintain workflow for receiving and processing prescriptions within timelines.
• Assist with pharmacy inventory management and potentially operate automated dispensing machine (PacMed)for processing and filling prescriptions
• Manage returns and expired products from nursing homes, including unpacking, sorting and disposal of medications
• Preparing creams and liquids, and generate daily and weekly production reports
• Maintain stock levels, reorder medications, and prepare both manual and automated compliance packaging.
• Ensuring accurate documentation, maintaining confidentiality, adhering to ethical standards, and contributing to a clean pharmacy environment

What You Will Bring To The Team

• Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or certification from an accredited Pharmacy Assistant program is preferred, but not required - training will be provided for the position

Compensation Range

$18 - $20/hour. Actual pay rate will be based on the individual candidate’s credentials and experience.

Location

This is on-site role at our Ottawa pharmacy located at 2447 Kaladar Ave Ottawa, ON K1V8B9 and follows a five-day workweek with participation in weekend rotation.
