Qualifications

  • Pursuing a path towards licensed Pharmacy Technician either from an accredited college program or OCP bridging.
  • Strong mathematical computation skills for pharmacy practice.
  • Attention to detail to ensure precise dispensing and accurate order entry.
  • Clear writing and communication for analytical reports and executive summaries.
  • Verbal communication skills with the ability to relate to others and adapt style.
  • Organizational and prioritization abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dispensing functions per departmental procedures and NAPRA Standards.
  • Replenish ADM and use Pneumatic Tube for distribution.
  • Function as Pharmacy Courier as required for standard delivery times.
  • Supply “pass” medications.
  • Carry out daily census changes (transfers, discharges).
  • Prepare daily cartfill medications.
  • Enter patients’ Best Possible Medication History into the Hospital Information System after interviewing patient/family and reviewing records.
  • Complete all workload statistics and documentation.
  • Supply ward stock and requested medications per procedures.
  • Prepare and deliver sterile products per CSHP standards (I.V. admixtures, TPN, chemotherapeutics).
  • Labeling, documentation and workload statistics completion.
  • Inventory control and maintaining stock levels.
  • Supply narcotics/controlled drugs to nursing units via ADM.
  • Maintain crash cart supplies.
  • Place purchase orders and return expired pharmaceuticals.
  • Receive barcodes and scan pharmaceuticals as per procedures.
  • Adhere to Pharmacy Drug Budget in all duties.
  • Keep work areas clean and well supplied.

Duties:

  • Perform all dispensing functions as per departmental procedures and NAPRA Standards.
  • Replenish ADM and use the Pneumatic Tube for distribution.
  • Function as Pharmacy Courier as required for standard delivery times.
  • Supply “pass” medications.
  • Carry out changes as per daily census (transfers, discharges).
  • Prepare daily cartfill medications
  • Obtain and enter into Hospital Information System patients’ Best Possible Mediation History by interviewing patient/family, contacting pharmacies and reviewing medical records.
  • Complete all associated documentation/workload stats.
  • Supply ward stock and required medications as per established procedures.
  • Prepare and deliver all sterile products according to CSHP and departmental standards including I.V. admixtures, TPN solutions, chemotherapeutic solutions, parenteral syringes and any other sterile products as required.
  • Complete all associated labeling, documentation and workload statistics.
  • Inventory control by maintaining adequate level of stock and an accurate count at all times.
  • Supply all nursing units with ward stocks of Narcotic and Controlled drugs according to department procedures using ADM.
  • Maintain an adequate level of crash cart supplies throughout the hospital.
  • Place purchase orders and arrange return of expired pharmaceuticals.
  • Receive barcode and scan pharmaceuticals according to departmental/hospital procedures.
  • Perform the above duties adhering to the Pharmacy Drug Budget.
  • Maintain all work areas in a clean and orderly manner and keep area well supplied with all dispensing/manufacturing aids.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a path towards licensed Pharmacy Technician either from an accredited college program or OCP bridging.

Skill:

  • Mathematical computation skills required for pharmacy practice.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accurate dispensing of medications and entering orders.
  • Writing skills including the ability to synthesize information into clear, concise messages both for detailed analytical reports and executive summaries.
  • Verbal communication skills including the ability to relate well with others and ability to adapt style as needed.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships; ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner, both in person and on the telephone; tact, courtesy and alertness in public contacts.

  • Operating knowledge of computers, printers, fax machine, including knowledge of pharmaceutical related software.
  • Familiarity with the proper operation of laminar flow hood, analytical balance, syringe pumps, packaging equipment and other equipment used in drug distribution.
