Job summary

Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) seeks a part-time Pharmacy Technician to support hospital dispensing, chemotherapy preparation, and medication distribution across HDMH and SMMH campuses in Bracebridge and Huntsville. You will assist with inventory, purchasing, and clerical tasks, ensuring accuracy and patient safety.

Required Ontario Pharmacy Technician registration; hospital pharmacy experience preferred, with training considered for strong candidates.

Qualifications

• Recent Hospital Pharmacy experience (within the previous 2 years) including drug distribution, chemotherapy and IV admixture OR willingness to train.
• Studentship practicum experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Dispensing tasks for Pharmacists including prescription order entry, chemotherapy preparation, sterile IV prep, labelling and record keeping.
• Perform Independent Double Check (IDC) on medications including chemotherapeutics and sterile IV preparations.
• Deliver medications to hospital departments.
• Receive purchase orders; add supplies and update computer inventory and records.
• Handle purchasing processes for pharmaceuticals and supplies.
• Place calls in purchase orders and ensure correct labeling on patient medication records.

Education

Registered Pharmacy Technician designation (Ontario College of Pharmacists)

Graduate of a recognized Pharmacy Technician Course (Community College level)

Certification in Sterile IV Chemotherapy & IV Admixture Preparation

Location: Multi-Site, working on site at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case‑case basis

Hours of Work: Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
