Position Summary...

The Pharmacy Assistant assists the Pharmacist in the technical aspects of prescription filling and administrative duties to increase the Pharmacist's opportunity to provide patient care. The Pharmacy Assistant is expected to participate in all aspects of Pharmacy Operations required of a team player. They are a key member in delivering superior customer service.

What You'll Do...

1. Receive prescriptions from patients, following provincial legal/regulatory conditions, and assess the prescription for completeness (Name, Address, DOB, Allergies, 3rd Party Info, Special Requests, Prescriber, Generic/Brand, Prioritization).
2. Perform computer functions as directed by the Pharmacist, including data entry, price checks, patient info updates, interpretation of prescriptions, refills, report generation, and profile checks.
3. Fill prescriptions under Pharmacist supervision, select appropriate products, perform accuracy checks, label and organize for pharmacist review, and facilitate cognitive services.
4. Maintain inventory control, assist in stock management, check for expired medications, manage returns, and order drugs and supplies using preferred wholesalers.
5. Perform general housekeeping, stock supplies, keep the dispensary organized and clean, and maintain equipment and work environment.
6. Organize clerical tasks such as filing prescriptions, invoices, reports, and administrative functions.
7. Assist with OTC operations, including ordering, stocking, and cashier duties as assigned.
