Job summary

CareRx in Oakville is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant, L1 to support a group of LTC Homes and Retirement Communities. You will assist with the preparation, packaging, and organization of medication deliveries, while supporting daily operations in accordance with the Pharmacy Standards of Practice.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or certification from an accredited program preferred.
• Experience with KROLL and/or PacMed is an asset.
• Basic working knowledge of pharmacy inventory processes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with manual dexterity.

Responsibilities

• Ensure precise record-keeping and prescription information from nursing staff via dispensary software.
• Prepare and label medication for compliance packing and maintain workflow for receiving and processing prescriptions within timelines.
• Processing refills in Kroll.
• Packaging medications (blister packs, vials, strips).
• Synchronizing data with the PacMed machine.
• Complete corrections of medication rolls through PacVision.
• Assist with pharmacy inventory management and operate PacMed for processing and filling prescriptions.
• Manage returns and expired products from nursing homes and dispose accordingly.
• Prepare creams and liquids.
• Generate daily and weekly production reports.
• Maintain stock levels and restock shelves.

Role Accountabilities:

The duties listed below are within the scope of the Pharmacy Assistant L1

• Ensure precise record-keeping and prescription information from nursing staff is filled via dispensary software
• Prepare and label medication for compliance pack aging an d maintain workflow for receiving and processing prescriptions within timelines.
• Processing refills in Kroll
• Packaging medications (i.e., blister packs, vials, strips)
• Synchronizing data with the PacMed machine
• Completing corrections of medication rolls through PacVision
• Assist with pharmacy inventory management and po tentiall y operate automated dispensing machine ( PacMed ) for processing and filling prescriptions
• Manage returns and expired products from nursing homes, including unpacking, sorting and disposa l of m edications
• Preparing creams and liquids
• G enerate daily and weekly production reports
• Maintain stock levels, r estocking shelves and reorder medications
• P repar e both manual and automated compliance packaging.
• Ensuring accurate documentation, maintaining confidentiality, adhering to ethical standards, and contributing to a clean pharmacy environment
• Day-to-day maintenance of our pharmacy operations both independently and in cooperation with teammates
• Other duties will be assigned as required within the Pharmacy Assistant scope of responsibilities.

Shipping

• Organizing and coordinating deliveries to shipping
• Reconciling shipping medications with shipping reports and delivery totes
• Packaging items to ship
• Coordinating with drivers and facilities

What You Will Bring to The Team:

• Experience as a Pharmacy Assistan t or certif ication from an accredited Pharmacy Assistant program is preferred, but not required - training will be provided for the position
• Experience with KROLL and/or Pacmed an asset
• Basic working knowledge of pharmacy inventory processes
• Visual acuity, num er acy, detail oriented, manual dexterity required for appropriate handling of strip packs, prescription bottles and labels
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented

Physical Demands:

This position requires prolonged standing and walking, repetitive hand movements, manual dexterity, visual attention to detail, and the ability to bend, reach, lift, and carry pharmacy supplies weighing up to 25 lbs. The successful candidate must be able to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced pharmacy environment.

Compensation Range:

$18 - $20/hour. Actual pay rate will be based on the individual candidate's credentials and experience.

Location:

This is on-site role at our Oakville Pharmacy- 3430 Superior Ct, and follows a five-day workweek with participation in on-call rotation for weekends.
