Why this role is important?

Summary:

To assist with the technical functions of dispensing prescriptions, assist as appropriate in the delivery of pharmacy services, participate in the maintenance and operations of the Pharmacy as described by the Pharmacy Standards of Practice, and provide superior, timely, and pleasant service to customers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Customer Service: Greet customers promptly, gather prescription information, and refer clinical inquiries to the pharmacist.
2. Perform duties according to assigned roles and manage customer expectations regarding wait times.
3. Locate and cash out prescriptions and ancillary items, maintaining confidentiality and privacy.
4. Manage cash register operations within the dispensary.

Administration:

1. Handle prescription orders, prepare and submit orders excluding controlled drugs and narcotics.
2. Manage third-party billing, answer calls, and coordinate with pharmacists for callbacks.
3. Manage incoming faxes and document filing according to standards.

Prescription Workflow:

1. Assist in prescription preparation adhering to company standards and professional services.
2. Enter data for new prescriptions, handle refill requests, and select medications accordingly.
3. Count, package, label prescriptions accurately, and maintain data within pharmacy systems.

Skills & Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma; a Pharmacy Assistant credited course is preferred.
2. Previous pharmacy experience is advantageous.
3. Effective organizational skills, multitasking ability, problem-solving skills, and strong attention to detail.
