Why this role is important?

SUMMARY: To assist with the technical functions of dispensing prescriptions, support pharmacy service delivery, and participate in the maintenance and operations of the Pharmacy as per Pharmacy Standards of Practice. Provide superior, timely, and pleasant service to customers.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Customer Service: Greet customers promptly, gather prescription information, and refer clinical inquiries to the pharmacist. Set realistic wait time expectations. Locate and process prescriptions and ancillary items. Refer customers needing counseling to the Pharmacist. Maintain cash register operations and ensure confidentiality and privacy.

Administration:

  • Handle prescription orders, prepare and submit orders excluding controlled drugs and narcotics, manage third-party billing and accounts, answer calls, manage faxes, coordinate call-backs, and file documentation according to standards.

Prescription Workflow:

  • Assist in prescription preparation, data entry, medication selection, counting, packaging, labeling, and data maintenance within pharmacy systems.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma; Pharmacy Assistant diploma preferred. Previous pharmacy experience is an asset. Strong organizational, multitasking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail are required.
