Job summary

Neighbourly Pharmacy Inc. in Saskatoon seeks a full-time Pharmacy Assistant for a 5–6 month term with potential extension.

You will support pharmacists and technicians, handle prescription entry and labeling, and participate in inventory management while delivering compassionate, patient-focused care. The position requires 1–3 years retail pharmacy experience, strong Kroll and software skills, and flexibility for varied shifts.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy.
  • Proficiency in Kroll with high accuracy in prescription data entry.
  • Care home experience considered beneficial.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; team oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in Compounding, automation, central fill, compliance packaging, OAT.

Responsibilities

Earl's Pharmacy is looking for a full-time Pharmacy Assistant to join our teaminSaskatoon, Saskatchewan.

This is a 5 to 6-month term position with the possibility of an extension!

Patient Focused Care Responsibilities
  • Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
  • Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
  • Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
  • Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
  • Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
  • Independent complex order entry, address insurance claims and billing issues, flag concerns to pharmacists, and ensure accurate paperwork submission.
  • Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste according to regulations
  • Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
  • Assist pharmacists with clerical tasks, report printing, and distribution
  • Audit narcotic prescriptions and schedule outdated pharmaceutical reviews.
  • Handle expired medications and returns to McKesson.
  • Manage McKesson orders and coordinate with secondary suppliers.
  • Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned.
Long-Term Care Home Visits
  • A valid driver's licence is required, along with access to a reliable personal motor vehicle for weekly Long-Term Care Home visits.
  • Reimbursement will be provided for the use of your personal motor vehicle for these trips.
  • Conduct weekly visits for refills, med returns, audits, and stat box management.
  • Support monthly billing and batch fill processes.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy witha preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business.
  • Highly skilled in the use of Kroll, with strong accuracy and efficiency in prescription data entry.
  • Care home experience is considered beneficial.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to thrive in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience in advanced skills (e.g., Compounding, automation, central fill, compliance packaging, OAT).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and pharmacy software.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Schedule
  • 40 hours per week (Full-time).
  • The usual shifts will be Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • 8-hour shifts
  • Candidates must be flexible and available to work weekend shifts as required to support business needs.
