Your Opportunity:
Pharmacy assistants perform various medication-related duties including: distribution and packaging of medications; management and replenishment of medication inventory levels; and moderately complex clerical duties in accordance with standard procedures. Core duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Inventory management including ordering, receiving, and storage of medications (including automated dispensing machines).
- Packaging and repackaging of medications.
- Filling medication orders, including patient-specific medications, ward stock, code, and other trays.
- Delivering medications/documents to/from patient care areas and pharmacy.
- Preparing and compounding medications under supervision.
- Building interactive relationships with healthcare team members and communicating with nursing staff to clarify medication inventory, storage, and distribution issues.
- Maintaining high performance standards through internal validation programs assessing proficiency in tasks such as narcotic control.
- Participating in special projects and programs as assigned.
- Providing guidance, training, and orientation to staff and students.
- Maintaining department records, statistics, and preparing reports as required.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Qualifications:
Working knowledge of pharmacy terms and medication names. Graduate of a recognized pharmacy assistant program and/or recent retail or hospital pharmacy experience acceptable to the employer. Experience with Windows-based applications and typing skills. Fluency in English (written and verbal). Knowledge/access to Connect Care/EPIC Willow Pharmacy application. Note: English proficiency requirements are based on ACP Pharmacy Technician registration (NAPRA).
