North Island Pharmacy in Courtenay is looking for a
Pharmacy Assistant to support our
Mental Health & Addictions program. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a
fast-paced, compassionate setting, supporting individuals receiving
medication-assisted treatment for substance use disorders.
What You’ll Do
- Medication Management – Assist in processing and dispensing prescriptions for methadone, Suboxone, and Kadian, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Client Support & Advocacy – Provide empathetic, confidential, and non-judgmental service to individuals receiving medication-assisted treatment.
- Regulatory Compliance – Ensure all documentation and processes align with provincial and federal regulations related to addiction treatment medications.
- Pharmacy Operations – Support the team with data entry, prescription preparation, inventory management, and workflow optimization.
- Collaboration & Teamwork – Work closely with pharmacists, healthcare providers, and support staff to provide a seamless and compassionate experience for clients.
- Confidentiality & Ethics – Uphold the highest standards of privacy, professionalism, and respect in all client interactions.
What You Bring
- Minimum 2 years of pharmacy experience (preferably in a mental health & addictions setting).
- Experience with pharmacy management software (Kroll experience preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a high-volume setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when supporting vulnerable populations.
- Knowledge of mental health & addictions pharmacy regulations and best practices.
- A team-oriented mindset with a client-centered approach to care.
