Why this role is important?

Summary:

To assist with the technical functions of dispensing prescriptions, assist as appropriate in the delivery of pharmacy services, participate in the maintenance and operations of the Pharmacy as described by the Pharmacy Standards of Practice, and provide superior, timely, and pleasant service to customers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Customer Service: Greet customers promptly, gather prescription information according to Standards, perform duties as per Role Assignment Schedule, refer clinical inquiries to the pharmacist, set customer expectations regarding wait times, locate and cash out prescriptions and ancillary items, ensure counseling is referred to the Pharmacist, maintain the cash register, and adhere to confidentiality and privacy requirements.
2. Administration: Receive prescription orders per SOPs, prepare and submit orders excluding controlled drugs, adjudicate third-party billing, answer calls and refer to pharmacist, manage incoming faxes, assist with call-backs, and file documentation accurately.
3. Prescription Workflow: Assist in prescription preparation, data entry, medication selection, counting, packaging, labeling, and data maintenance within pharmacy systems.
