Job summary

The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency's Allan Blair Cancer Centre in Regina seeks a Pharmacist Site Leader of Oncology Pharmacy Services to direct oncology pharmacy operations and clinical services. The role focuses on safe drug distribution, sterile compounding, and contributing to high-quality cancer care.

Reporting to the Provincial Manager, you will develop and evaluate programs, mentor staff, and ensure safe, efficient and patient-centered pharmaceutical care for Saskatchewan residents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or PharmD degree required and licensure to practice in Saskatchewan.
• Hospital residency preferred; advanced degrees encouraged.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical or supervisory pharmacy experience.
• Experience in oncology and program development is preferred.
• Ability to lead, plan, and evaluate oncology pharmacy services.

Responsibilities

• Lead operational activities within oncology pharmacy services at Allan Blair Cancer Centre.
• Ensure safe drug distribution, sterile IV admixtures and hazardous drug handling.
• Provide clinical oncology pharmacy services and medication teaching.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

As a member of the Care Services Division team, the Pharmacist Site Leader of Oncology Pharmacy Servicesis responsible and accountable for leading the operational activities within the oncology pharmacy service programs at the tertiary clinic sites of the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (Allan Blair Cancer Centre, Regina) under the direction of the Provincial Manager, Oncology Pharmacy Services.

These responsibilities include ensuring the provision of safe, comprehensive and effective drug distribution services and the provision of clinical oncology pharmacy services within the principles of pharmaceutical care to optimize drug therapy. The Pharmacist Site Leader is involved in the planning, policy development and supervision of activities required for prescription dispensing, sterile IV admixture preparation, safe handling of hazardous drugs, distribution of drugs to the community and outside organizations, patient-focused clinical pharmacy services, medication teaching, drug resource management, medication reconciliation, investigational and clinical trial drug management and medication incident detection and monitoring. These responsibilities have been established to support the Care Services Division in its efforts to ensure safe, accessible, high-quality, cost effective cancer services are provided to Saskatchewan residents.

The Pharmacist Site Leader ensures the work environment enables and supports excellence in practice and promotes high quality of work life and safety for department staff and safe, high-quality care for patients.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) Degree in Pharmacy.
• Completion of a hospital pharmacy residency program at a recognized Canadian teaching hospital is preferred.
• Master’s degree in Pharmacy (Pharm D, MSc), Health Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA) or PharmD from a recognized university is preferred. is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of clinical or supervisory pharmacy experience in an ambulatory or hospital computerized environment or an equivalent combination of applicable education, training and a minimum of 1 year of clinical pharmacy/supervisory experience in a tertiary care hospital setting.
• Experience in an oncology setting is preferred.
• Experience with program development, implementation and evaluation.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure by the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals (SCPP) to practice pharmacy in Saskatchewan.
