SUMMARY:
This role involves managing the operations of the Pharmacy during your shift, providing consultations to customers and healthcare providers, practicing to the full scope of professional services, dispensing medication, and assisting in maintaining the dispensary.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pharmacy and Customer Service:
Greet all customers approaching the Pharmacy.
Practice within federal/provincial, regulatory, and legal requirements.
Ensure privacy requirements are met, including confidentiality and consent management.
Provide counselling on prescriptions and over-the-counter products.
Practice to the full extent of your professional scope and services.
Be clearly identifiable to the public.
Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all dispensed prescriptions.
Communicate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate customer care.
Maintain all required records in accordance with legislation, standards, and policies.
Workflow and Inventory Management:
Control access to the dispensary respecting inventory and patient confidentiality.
Review and maintain workflow queues daily.
Regularly review 'will call' bins following SOPs.
Check stock for expired inventory.
Oversee stock levels and medication orders from wholesalers.
Ensure compliance with documentation and control of controlled substances as per regulations, including reporting to Health Canada.
Operations:
Maintain an appropriate image of the Pharmacy at entry, counselling, and work areas.
Participate in financial reporting as appropriate.
Respond to store communications via the in-store web.
File incident reports for any medication or privacy incidents involving customers or staff.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
Ability to think independently and make decisions.
Plan, coordinate, delegate, and coach colleagues.
Proven ability to drive business growth and support enterprise programs.
Exceptional customer service skills and professionalism.
Strong problem-solving skills with experience in action planning.
Personal computing skills and knowledge of Pharmacy systems are assets.
Follow all Health & Safety procedures for a safe work environment.
Complete mandatory and voluntary continuing education as needed.
