Why this role is important?
SUMMARY: To manage pharmacy operations during your shift, provide consultations to customers and healthcare providers, dispense medication, and assist in maintaining the dispensary.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pharmacy and Customer Service:
- Acknowledge all customers approaching the pharmacy.
- Practice within federal/provincial, regulatory, and legal requirements.
- Ensure privacy requirements are met, including confidentiality and consent management.
- Provide counseling on prescriptions and over-the-counter products.
- Practice to the full scope of professional services within your capability.
- Be clearly identifiable to the public.
- Ensure accuracy of all prescriptions dispensed.
- Communicate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
- Maintain all required records according to legislation and policies.
Workflow and Inventory Management:
- Control access to the dispensary respecting inventory and confidentiality.
- Review and manage workflow queues daily.
- Regularly review 'will call' bins per SOPs.
- Check for expired inventory.
- Oversee stock levels and medication orders.
- Ensure compliance with the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and report to authorities as required.
Operations:
- Maintain a professional appearance of workstations and areas.
- Assist with financial reports as needed.
- Respond to store communications via the web.
- File incident reports for medication or privacy issues.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to think independently and make decisions.
- Plan, coordinate, delegate, and coach colleagues.
- Proven ability to drive business growth and support programs.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Strong professionalism and customer relations.
- Problem-solving skills with action plan execution.
- Knowledge of pharmacy systems and personal computing skills are assets.
- Follow health and safety procedures to ensure a safe workplace.
- Complete mandatory and ongoing training as required.
