Why this role is important?
Summary:

To manage the operations of the Pharmacy during your shift, including providing consultation to customers and healthcare providers, practicing to full scope in professional services, dispensing medication, and assisting in maintaining the dispensary.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide pharmacy and customer service, acknowledging all customers approaching the pharmacy.
  • Practice within federal/provincial, regulatory, and legal requirements.
  • Ensure privacy requirements are met, including customer confidentiality and consent management.
  • Offer counseling on prescriptions and over-the-counter products.
  • Practice to the full extent of your professional scope, including expanded services within your capabilities.
  • Be clearly identifiable to the public.
  • Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions dispensed.
  • Communicate with healthcare professionals to coordinate customer care.
  • Maintain all required records according to legislation, standards, and policies.
Workflow and Inventory Management:
  • Control access to the dispensary respecting inventory and patient confidentiality.
  • Review and maintain workflow queues daily.
  • Regularly review 'will call' bins per SOPs.
  • Check for expired inventory and oversee stock levels and medication orders.
  • Ensure compliance with the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, including reporting to authorities.
Operations:
  • Maintain an appropriate image of the pharmacy at entry/pickup workstations and counseling areas.
  • Participate in financial reporting as needed.
  • Respond to store communications via the in-store web.
  • File incident reports for medication or privacy incidents involving customers or staff.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
  • Ability to think independently and make decisions.
  • Plan, coordinate, delegate, and coach pharmacy colleagues.
  • Proven ability to drive and grow the business, lead by example, and support enterprise programs.
  • Strong commitment to exceptional customer service and professionalism.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and experience in executing action plans.
  • Personal computing skills and knowledge of pharmacy systems are advantageous.
  • Adhere to health and safety procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Complete mandatory training and ongoing education as required.
