Job summary

CIHI is inviting a Co-op Student to join the Pharmaceuticals data management team in Ottawa. You will support NPDUIS-related research, data requests, and documentation, while ensuring data privacy and security compliance.

You’ll interact with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to priority projects that advance better data and decisions. You will gain exposure to process improvement, business operations and policy procedures, while developing skills in data analysis, literature

Qualifications

• Working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree in Public Health, Health Studies, Health Informatics, Data Science, Epidemiology, Statistics, or related field that may require Co-op as part of the educational requirement
• Experience in literature reviews, web searches, and other research-related tasks
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and familiar with Python, R and SQL
• Strong communication skills to internal and external stakeholders, in written and spoken form
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision while contributing to the team
• Knowledge of health data systems, prescription drug coverage, or public health concepts is an asset

Responsibilities

• Participate in branch updates, departmental/team meetings, and team building activities
• Contribute to development and review of pharmaceuticals products, including preparation of user documentation
• Support data quality work in pharmaceuticals and provide information on data quality to users
• Assist with data verification, report preparation and formatting of formulary information
• Conduct literature reviews on project topics as needed
• Provide support for additional activities within the pharmaceuticals department
