Job summary

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care in Toronto is seeking a Personal Support Worker (PSW) for a temporary part-time assignment of 2 months, with potential extension. The role focuses on providing compassionate, resident-centred care, assisting with daily activities, personal hygiene, and safety while supporting emotional and social needs for seniors from diverse communities.

Required PSW certification in Ontario or equivalent, CPR, and a commitment to high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Graduate PSW course in Ontario or equivalent.
• Experience in long-term care is an asset.
• Current CPR certificate.
• Registration with HSCPOA preferred.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Computer literacy including Point Click Care and MS Office; Workday a plus.
• Chinese language ability is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to assist clients with daily activities and hygiene.
• Support clients' physical, social, and emotional needs in a safe, resident-centred manner.
• Adhere to government standards, residents' rights, and organizational policies.
• Document care and coordinate with team to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Report changes in client condition and participate in shift handovers.

The PSW will support the clients' physical, social and emotional needs in a safe manner, in accordance with the organization's resident-centred approach, complying with relevant government standards, residents' rights and the organizations mission and philosophy.QualificationsGraduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario, or equivalentExperience in long term care setting an assetCurrent CPR CertificateRegistration with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) preferred.Resident-centred care focus with strong customer service and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve and time manageAbility to work independently as well as be an active, positive team playerBehavioural management training (Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA), U-First, CPI) an assetComputer literacy (Point Click Care, MS Office).
