Job summary

Extendicare Tendercare LTC Scarborough is seeking part-time Personal Support Workers (PSW) to care for up to eight residents in a 204-bed facility. You will work under Registered Staff to deliver personal and nursing care in line with home policies and routines.

Responsibilities include assisting with ambulation, feeding, bathing, grooming, meals, and providing emotional support to residents and families. Strong communication and teamwork are essential, with Cantonese or Mandarin skills

Qualifications

• Completed a PSW program or HCA/CCA certification.
• Experience in Long Term Care or community home care setting.
• Ability to read/write English and communicate with staff, residents and families.
• Cantonese or Mandarin language skills are an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assists in providing direct care for residents; assists with ambulation, feeding, bathing and grooming.
• Encourages participation in activity programs by assisting residents to and from activities.
• Assists with meal service and nourishment delivery to residents and provides feeding assistance as required.
• Provides emotional and social support to residents/families including palliative care.
• Adheres to established policies and procedures regarding documentation, safety and infection control.
• Consults with and informs supervisor of unit activities and resident care matters.
• Participates in care conferences and documentation related to resident care plans.
