Job summary

Jarlette Health Services is seeking a Part-Time Personal Support Worker (PSW) to support residents at Villa Care Centre in Midland, Ontario. The PSW will assist with daily living activities, promote resident independence, and help maintain a safe environment under the direction of the Co-Director of Care.

Qualified candidates should have completed a PSW program or be enrolled in an Ontario RN/RPN program, possess strong communication skills, and be computer literate.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a personal support worker program that meets Ontario requirements and provides proof of graduation.
• Candidates enrolled in an RN or RPN program in Ontario may be considered.
• Experience in Long Term Care (Gerontology) is an asset.
• Must be computer literate.

Villa Care Centre is a fully accredited long term care home in Midland,Ontario and serves 160 residents. The community is a vibrant town on Georgian Bay and is approximately 50 km north of Barrie and 48 km north-west of Orillia. Midland is known as the gateway to the 30,000 islands and draws tourists with its natural beauty, water-based activities, and numerous parks and cottages. Under the direction of the Co-Director of Care, the Personal Support Worker (PSW) is an integral part of the health care team, and in this role, encourages, supports and promotes independence for the residents by assisting with activities of daily living.

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) is responsible for a comprehensive range of duties encompassing resident care, interdisciplinary collaboration, adherence to organizational policies, and the maintenance of a safe environment. Core responsibilities involve provision of direct patient care, diligent observation and timely reporting of changes in health status, and accurate completion of all required documentation.

We are looking for the following qualifications and traits:

• Must have successfully completed a personal support work program that meets the requirements in subsection 52. (2) of the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021 and Ontario Regulation ss. 246/22; and provides proof of graduation issued by the education provider
• Candidates are also considered who are enrolled in a RN or RPN program in Ontario
• Experience in Long Term Care (Gerontology) setting is an asset
• Ensures all Ministry of Long Term Care requirements are met
• Must demonstrate good communication skills
• Must demonstrate an active interest in ongoing education
• Displays a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents, families, and team members
• Understands the demands and rewards of the role
• To enhance the requirements for quality customer service and engagement
• Must be computer literate
