Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.
- Assist the registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
- Complete all documentation on time, in accordance with corporate policies, ensuring accuracy and currency.
- Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care consistent with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
- Provide assistance and support with resident meal service.
- Assist and support restorative nursing efforts.
- Strategize, cooperate, and conduct activities necessary for effective resident care during shifts and throughout the unit.
- Execute care in accordance with legislation, best practices, corporate policies, and procedures.
- Participate in agency risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
- Perform timely, accurate, and complete documentation for all care delivered, complying with legislation and regulations.
- Participate in mentoring new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
- Participate in departmental, interdisciplinary team, and resident safety meetings.
- Promote teamwork and understanding among shifts, staff, and in accordance with the collective agreement.
- Adhere to health and safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment use, safety procedures, and PPE use when necessary.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Proficient in verbal and written English communication; second language skills are an asset.
- Must meet one of the following criteria:
- Completion of a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a recognized institution.
- RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy students who have completed Year 1.
- Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
- Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray.
- Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
- Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
- VSS within the past year confirming no criminal record.
