Job description

Hours of Work:

The successful candidates must be available to work a minimum of two different types of shifts (days and evenings, days and nights, or a combination), with a preference for relief availability across all three shifts. Shift hours are 7:00am to 3:00pm, 3:00pm to 11:00pm, and 11:00pm to 7:00am.

How You Will Make An Impact

The successful applicant will provide personal care and home support services to clients living independently in the community, including:

  1. Providing service in a person-centered, dignified, culturally competent, and respectful manner aligned with the charism of Good Shepherd and an anti-racism/anti-oppression framework.
  2. Assisting clients with routine activities of daily living and instrumental activities such as housekeeping, laundry, personal care, toileting assistance, transfers, and supporting clients during external appointments.
  3. Working across multiple locations within the city based on the schedule, which may require walking up to 25 minutes from the hub to the client's residence, including stairs in all seasons.
  4. Monitoring client safety, encouraging use of assistive devices, medication reminders, responding to calls for assistance, and promoting the use of hearing aids, glasses, and other aids.
  5. Performing light housekeeping, grocery shopping, laundry, meal preparation, and hazard reporting.
What You'll Bring To Our Team
  • Personal Support Worker Certificate in good standing, authorized to practice in Ontario.
  • At least 1 year's practical experience preferred.
  • Ability to work with adults with diverse health and psycho-social needs, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management, communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Commitment to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practices and alignment with Good Shepherd's mission and values.
  • Fluency in an additional language is an asset.
