Job summary

RNS Health Care Services Inc. is hiring Personal Support Workers to join our home healthcare team in the York Region area. You will assist clients with personal care, mobility, light housekeeping, and companionship in their homes, while reporting changes to healthcare professionals.

Eligible candidates have a PSW certificate, CPR/First Aid, and a Vulnerable Sector police check. Reliable transportation and English communication skills are required for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Certificate as a Personal Support Worker (PSW) from a Ministry-approved curriculum.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Police Records Check for the Vulnerable Sector within the past 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care needs (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting).
• Support mobility and transfers ensuring safety and well-being.
• Perform light housekeeping and maintain a clean living environment.
• Engage clients with meaningful activities and provide companionship.
• Observe and report changes to healthcare professionals and document care provided.

A Day to day look at the role:

• Assist clients with their personal care needs, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
• Provide assistance with mobility and transfers, ensuring client safety and well‑being.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks such as tidying up, laundry, and maintaining a clean and organized living environment for clients.
• Engage clients in meaningful activities and provide companionship.
• Observe and report any changes in clients' physical or mental condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and complete necessary reports.

Who We are Looking For:

• Must have reliable transportation; this includes a valid Ontario Driver’s License and automobile insurance
• Day or evening availability with ability to work alternating weekends.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (includes reading, writing and conversing).
• Experience working in a home care or similar environment is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Empathy, patience, and the ability to work with individuals with diverse needs.
• Ability to work independently.
• Previous experience working with elderly is considered asset.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

• Certificate as a Personal Support Worker (PSW) from a curriculum approved by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities or the Ministry of Education.
• Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
• Completed Police Records Search for the Vulnerable Sector (within the past 6 months).
• Proof of a 2‑step TB Skin Test (Mantoux) completed within the last 2 years.
• Reliable transportation to travel to clients' homes, and proof of auto insurance.
