Job summary

Compass Homecare is hiring a Casual/Part-Time Personal Support Worker with ALS experience in the Greater Toronto Area. The role offers $20.00 per hour with a $3.00 wage enhancement where applicable, plus flexible shifts (3–12 hours) and ongoing client assignments.

Responsibilities include personal care, ADLs, meals, medication reminders, light housekeeping, and companionship. Qualifications include Ontario PSW certificate, NACC if applicable, CPR/First Aid, and a valid Vulnerable Sector Check.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• PSW certificate from an Ontario program.
• NACC certification for private career college grads.
• Equivalent credentials considered (RPN/RN or internationally educated).
• Reliable transportation between client locations.
• Access to mobile phone and internet.
• TB test or chest X-ray within last 12 months.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Valid Vulnerable Sector Check within last 12 months.

• Provide personal care such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Prepare meals and provide medication reminders.
• Perform light housekeeping and laundry duties.
• Accompany clients to appointments, errands, and outings.
• Provide companionship and emotional support; offer respite to families.
• Maintain accurate documentation using electronic charting.
• Monitor changes in client health or environment and report.
• Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive care environment.
• Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare team.

PSWs report to the Client Services Coordinator and are responsible for delivering high‑quality personal care and support to clients in their homes, in accordance with individualized care plans and established standards of practice.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
• Personal Support Worker certificate from a recognized Ontario program
• NACC certification required for private career college graduates
• Equivalent credentials (RPN, RN, or internationally educated healthcare professionals) will be considered
• Previous PSW or caregiving experience is an asset
• Reliable transportation (vehicle or public transit) to travel between client locations
• Access to a mobile phone and reliable internet connection
• Negative TB test or chest X‑ray completed within the last 12 months
• Current CPR and First Aid certification from a recognized provider
• Valid Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last 12 months

Immunization Requirements

Successful candidates must provide proof of immunization in accordance with client and organizational requirements, including:

• COVID‑19
• Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR)
• Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap)
• Polio
• Varicella
• Hepatitis B
