Job summary

Compass Homecare Inc. is seeking a Personal Support Worker (PSW) for casual/part-time overnight shifts in the Midland area. The role centers on in-home care, assisting with ADLs, meal preparation, and companionship according to individualized care plans.

The successful candidate will have an Ontario PSW certificate, CPR/First Aid, and reliable transportation; compensation is $25 per hour with flexible scheduling and paid orientation.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication in English.
• PSW certificate from a recognized Ontario program.
• NACC certification required for private career college graduates.
• Equivalent credentials (RPN/RN) will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Prepare meals and provide medication reminders.
• Perform light housekeeping and laundry duties.
• Accompany clients to appointments, errands, and community outings as required.
• Provide companionship and emotional support.
• Offer respite support to families.
• Maintain accurate documentation using electronic charting systems.
• Monitor and report changes in client health or environment.
• Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive care environment.
• Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare team.

PSWs report to the Client Services Coordinator and are responsible for delivering high-quality personal care and support to clients in their homes, in accordance with individualized care plans and established standards of practice.

This is a casual/part-time position with flexible scheduling based on client needs and staff availability.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
• Personal Support Worker certificate from a recognized Ontario program
• NACC certification required for private career college graduates
• Equivalent credentials (RPN, RN, or internationally educated healthcare professionals) will be considered
• Previous PSW or caregiving experience is an asset
• Reliable vehicle to travel between client locations
• Access to a mobile phone and reliable internet connection
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray completed within the last 12 months
• Current CPR and First Aid certification from a recognized provider
• Valid Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last 12 months
