Job summary

Nurse Next Door in Richmond Hill is hiring Caregivers to provide at-home support to seniors across Vaughan and Richmond Hill. You will help with meals, light housekeeping, and personal care, following each client’s individualized care plan.

We value people who can drive, communicate in English, and adapt to flexible schedules including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and overnights. Training and ongoing support are provided.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid PSW/HCA certificate or be currently enrolled in caregiver or nursing education.
• Must own a car to travel to clients' homes in Vaughan and Richmond Hill.
• Ability to speak/write in English; bilinguals are an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide meal preparation, light housekeeping, and companionship or personal care.
• Follow the client's care plan as outlined by the Care Designer.
• Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) within scope of practice.
• Assist with transfers, ambulation, and prescribed exercises.
• Ensure client safety and proper use of equipment.
• Record and document care activities accurately and thoroughly.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Provide meal preparation, light housekeeping, and/or provide companionship and personal care.

Execute on the client's care plan as outlined by the Care Designer.

Help clients with their ADL's (Activities of Daily Living) that is within the scope of practice for a Registered Health Care Aide.

Assist clients with transfers, ambulation and exercises.

Meet the safety needs of the client and use equipment safely and properly.

Function within the limits of your own experience and knowledge, while practicing safely and competently within the job description.

Complete records and documentation accurately and thoroughly.

Requirements:

• Must have a valid certificate for PSW, HCA Or foreign trained nurse
• Must have a car to travel independently to clients home anywhere in Vaughan and Richmond hill
• Currently enrolled in Caregiver or Nursing education
• Ability to identify and report client care concerns to Care Designers when needed.
• Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search (updated every 5 years for continued employment)
• Negative TB test (updated every 5 years for continued employment)
• Fully Vaccinated against Covid-19
• 2 Professional references
• CPR certification
• Cell phone with data and understanding of how to access email and utilize online applications softwares. (Nurse Next Door uses AlayaCare Monitoring System for team members to log in and out of shifts. It is also used to check client notes and task for caregivers.)
• Must be able to speak and write in English. Other languages will be an asset.
• Have a valid SIN and eligibility to work in Canada.

Preference will be given:

• Italian, Greek speaking caregiver Or having experience taking care of family /culture. Being bilingual is an asset.
• Having a vehicle/valid driver license is required.
• Previous experience in a caregiving role is an asset
• Experience with Mechanical Lifts and Transfers
• Experience with individuals with Dementia and/or Alzheimer's
• Experience caring for individuals with limited to no mobility

COVID-19 considerations:

Full PPE kit issued on hire. Proof of Covid -19 vaccination mandatory.
