Job summary

RNS Health Care Services Inc. is seeking compassionate Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to join our home healthcare team in Stouffville, Ontario. The role focuses on providing quality care in clients’ homes and other care settings, helping with daily activities and ensuring safety.

The successful candidate will have a PSW certificate, CPR/First Aid, and a valid Ontario driver’s license. We offer mentorship, ongoing training, and competitive pay with benefits and signing bonus after probation.

Qualifications

• PSW certificate from a program approved by the Ministry
• CPR and First Aid certification are required
• Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the past 6 months
• Proof of a negative two-step TB skin test within the past 2 years
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care needs (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting)
• Assist with mobility and transfers safely
• Perform light housekeeping and maintain a clean home environment
• Provide companionship and engage clients in activities
• Observe and report changes to healthcare professionals
• Maintain accurate care documentation and reports

What You’ll Do

As a Personal Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting clients with personal care needs, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
• Supporting clients with mobility and transfers while ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Performing light housekeeping tasks, including tidying, laundry, and maintaining a clean and organized living environment.
• Engaging clients in meaningful activities and providing companionship.
• Observing and reporting changes in clients' physical or mental condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
• Maintaining accurate documentation of care provided and completing required reports.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

Qualifications & Certifications

• Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate from a program approved by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities or the Ministry of Education.
• Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
• Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the past six months.
• Proof of a negative two-step TB Skin Test (Mantoux) completed within the past two years.
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance.

Skills & Availability

• Availability to work morning, day, or evening shifts, including alternating weekends.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, including reading, writing, and conversing.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Empathy, patience, and the ability to support individuals with diverse needs.
• Ability to work independently and provide quality care in clients' homes and other care settings.
• Previous experience in home care or a similar environment is preferred.
