Job summary

RNS Health Care Services Inc. is seeking compassionate Personal Support Workers to join our home healthcare team in Thornhill, Ontario. You will assist clients with daily living activities, mobility, and companionship in clients' homes and care settings.

We offer mentorship, ongoing training, CPR/First Aid provided by the employer, and flexible scheduling with weekend shifts. Competitive benefits and a signing bonus are available after probation.

Qualifications

• PSW certificate from a program approved by the relevant authorities.
• Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
• Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the past 6 months.
• Proof of a negative two-step TB Skin Test completed within the past 2 years.
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care needs (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting).
• Support mobility and transfers, ensuring safety and well-being.
• Perform light housekeeping and maintain a clean living environment.
• Engage clients with meaningful activities and provide companionship.
• Observe and report changes to healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate documentation and complete required reports.

What You’ll Do

As a Personal Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting clients with personal care needs, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
• Supporting clients with mobility and transfers while ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Performing light housekeeping tasks, including tidying, laundry, and maintaining a clean and organized living environment.
• Engaging clients in meaningful activities and providing companionship.
• Observing and reporting changes in clients’ physical or mental condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
• Maintaining accurate documentation of care provided and completing required reports.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

Qualifications & Certifications

• Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate from a program approved by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities or the Ministry of Education.
• Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
• Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the past six months.
• Proof of a negative two-step TB Skin Test (Mantoux) completed within the past two years.
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance.

Skills & Availability

• Availability to work morning, day, or evening shifts, including alternating weekends.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, including reading, writing, and conversing.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Empathy, patience, and the ability to support individuals with diverse needs.
• Ability to work independently and provide quality care in clients’ homes and other care settings.
• Previous experience in home care or a similar environment is preferred.
