Description

About the Client:

We are seeking a compassionate caregiver to support a 67-year-old gentleman living in downtown Toronto who has Alzheimer's disease. He lives with his spouse at 168 King St East. This is the family's first time receiving professional care support, and they are looking for someone who can provide reliable, warm assistance while respecting his independence and making him feel comfortable in his own home. Client is physically very well with a diagnosis of moderate stage Alzheimer’s. He would consider that he can take care of himself, but cannot in reality. Needs some stimulation aside from the television. Likes to listen to music and walk the dog. Is a huge animal lover. Is mostly in a good mood with occasional bad mood through frustration.

Responsibilities:

The caregiver will provide cognitive support through gentle reassurance and memory prompts, helping him stay focused on daily tasks. Light meal preparation is needed, including reheating meals and providing reminders to eat, along with cleanup after meals. Household support includes light cleaning such as dusting and wiping surfaces, vacuuming, and washing dishes. The caregiver should maintain a warm, conversational approach and provide companionship throughout visits.

What We're Looking For:

We need someone with experience supporting individuals with Alzheimer's or dementia who can provide patient cognitive support and gentle redirection when needed. The ideal caregiver brings positive energy, is reliable and consistent, takes initiative when needed, and has the right skills and experience for memory care. They should be comfortable with light housekeeping tasks and meal preparation. English-speaking caregivers are required. The caregiver should be calm, patient, and able to maintain a warm conversational style that helps ground and comfort the client.
