Qualifications

Job Details

Description

The Personal Banking Officer is responsible for outbound, banker-initiated contact with members, utilizing in-branch renewal lists, branch, and marketing lead lists. The primary focus is to meet with members to understand and fulfill their banking needs, increase share of wallet, and refer to senior bankers. Sales are driven through proactive calling and upselling referrals provided by other sales professionals.

Key contributions include assessing member financial needs, offering medium to high complexity product and service solutions in credit and investment, conducting effective interviews, and recognizing sales opportunities. Maintaining relationships with business partners to maximize opportunities is essential.

Major Responsibilities

  1. Contribute to growing and maintaining the business and community portfolio.
  2. Source and analyze product requests from various sources including accounts, organizations, and competitors.
  3. Manage relationships with commercial accounts, Co-Operatives, and Not-for-Profit organizations.
  4. Meet sales targets by delivering appropriate products and services.
  5. Proactively promote and sell banking products to meet member needs.
  6. Participate actively in branch meetings, initiatives, and campaigns.
  7. Use effective sales interviewing to uncover long-term financial needs.
  8. Provide financial advice for moderate solutions using financial calculators.
  9. Refer high-value relationships to internal and external partners.
  10. Maintain knowledge of all products and procedural updates.
  11. Apply risk-based pricing models and exercise pricing discretion profitably.
  12. Utilize sales and service tools during member interactions.
  13. Develop and execute a proactive call plan.
  14. Follow up on sales and retention leads and referrals.
  15. Identify personal development opportunities and participate in coaching.
  16. Comply with anti-money laundering guidelines.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Expectations / Outcomes

  • Meet contact commitments and sales objectives as per the sales plan.
  • Satisfy members' short and long-term financial needs.
  • Note any policy exceptions when recommending credit approval.
  • Availability to work branch hours, including some Saturdays.

Qualifications

Education / Certification / Experience

  • Post-secondary education plus 3 years' experience in a financial institution or equivalent.
  • Proven sales track record.
  • Enrolled in Financial Planning or similar programs.
  • Experience in providing credit solutions.
  • Mutual funds license preferred.

Knowledge / Skills

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, business knowledge, and math skills.
  • Knowledge of investment, lending, and mortgages to analyze needs and explain features.
  • Proficiency in computer applications like Excel and Word.
  • Effective communication and sales interview skills.
  • Problem-solving and negotiation skills.
