Job summary

Moose Jaw Diversified Services Incorporated is seeking a casual caregiver to support individuals with disabilities in Moose Jaw. The role focuses on person-centered planning, fostering independence, and maintaining confidentiality while delivering daily activities and safety procedures.

You will work with a cooperative team, using diverse communication methods, to help participants achieve personal goals and sustain engaging daily routines.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support people according to their wishes and their person-centered plan.
  • Support people to be as engaged and independent as possible.
  • Plan, organize, teach, and support daily program and work activities.
  • Implement and follow programs as designed by the Program Coordinator or Director of Service Delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with people using a variety of techniques which may include pictures, gestures, tactile prompts, and sign language.
  • Assist, respect, and support people to make choices and decisions, using supporting decision- making practices.
  • Support and assist co-workers by sharing and assisting with program and work activities.
  • Provide physical assistance to people with mobility support needs.
  • Encourage positive interpersonal relationships and coach/motivate/support people to build life and social skills.
  • Maintain records, ensuring confidentiality and accurate documentation of individual activities, general health, progress, skill development, support needs, medications, specialized procedures, finance, behaviour, and incidents.
  • Prepare written and oral progress reports, summaries, and recommendations on individual person-centered plan.
  • Apply emergency first aid as required.
  • Create and maintain a safe environment and teach safety procedures to participants.
