The Performance Power Plant Engineer (Test Cell) is responsible for the evaluation and interpretation of engine test runs. requirements, modification changes, services bulletins, leading and coordinating all of the Engineering test related activities on a particular engine type. Typical duties Power Plant Engineer (Test Cell) include the provision of technical expertise in testing, provision of reports of engine test progress, and assisting with the design of test equipment and test procedures.

To be a successful candidate, an Associate Engineer should be:

  • Co-ordinate and monitor and control engine test runs
  • Provide performance evaluation of engines (CF6-50, CFM56-3) and prepare reports accordingly
  • Troubleshoot engines during test and analyze cause of performance losses on test
  • Evaluation of unusual findings after test run
  • Support of engine conversion from one model to another
  • Review and create documentation with respect to engine test runs (Technical Orders, green pages, etc.)
  • Support in the evaluation of service bulletins/ AD and implement in ECMS
  • Interface with the engine OEM's to resolve technical issues and obtain clarification/ recommendations
  • Ensure an optimized Data Acquisition System for Engine test runs;
    • Maintenance of test cell
    • Review of DAC's system calibration
    • Troubleshoot DAC's
    • Maintenance of engine type specific correlation parameters
  • Ensure and administer test cell software to improve engine test run processes;
    • Administration and maintenance of the test cell software
    • Analyze and resolve software issues identified by the test cell operators
    • Perform functional checks of software to ensure that is working problem free
    • Check acceptance of critical parameters for correct calculations
    • Implement non-critical changes/enhancements to the engine software to allow a smoother progress of the engine under test
  • Provide technical assistance to Production to address problems and findings during the engine shop visit
  • Support and participate in improvement for test cell facility and its systems;
    • Request improvements in the test cell building and its systems as required
    • Review and approve changes in the test cell buildings and its systems
    • Provide technical support, assistance and guidance new tooling/equipment purchased for engine

Requirements for this position include:

  • Bachelor/University degree in an Engineering related area, preferable with 3-4 years experience (Aviation Gas Turbine Engines) in a test cell environment
  • or equivalent education in an Engineering related area with 3-4 years work experience (Aviation Gas Turbine Engines), preferable in a test cell environment
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Operation Windows
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office and MS365
  • Intermediate knowledge of SAP Engineering specific functions/transactions
