Job summary

National Shunt Service Ltd. (NSSL) in Vaughan, Canada, is seeking a People & Culture Generalist to support internal client groups and employees on HR matters.

This full-time, in-office role provides guidance on policies, processes and programs, and partners with management to foster productive working relationships. You will handle employee relations, recruitment life cycle, onboarding and offboarding, benefits administration, and support the People strategy while maintaining confidentiality and

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience working in an HR Generalist or HR Advisory capacity or a combination of experience and post-secondary education in a related field is required
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication (both written & oral), multi-tasking and time-management skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of initiative with a can-do attitude

Responsibilities

  • Act as a guide to our managers and employees on matters relating to our internal policies and procedures, and with reference to the legislation
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve working relationships, strengthen morale and increase productivity and retention
  • Provide employee relations guidance to employees and leaders within scope of position; identify and actively respond with sensitivity to the needs of employees and business unit leaders
  • First point of contact for leaders and employees regarding HR related matters
  • Assist with investigating a variety of employee-related issues, incidents, and complaints; resolve disputes and recommend appropriate/remedial actions
  • Participate in disciplinary and termination meetings
  • Prepare HR letters, documents and communications
  • Support development and execution of HR policies and programs, implement and develop activities, tools and programs for the business, and support the people strategy and management activities.
  • Administer the NSSL benefits program, including answering inquiries
  • Consistently exercise discretion in managing correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality; elevate issues where appropriate.
  • Manages the full life cycle recruiting activities for key department vacancies, in collaboration with the hiring managers.
  • Work in collaboration with Health and Safety to submit WSIB/WCB/CNNEST claims.
  • Effectively navigate systems to pull reports, review data and be able to spot and understand trends
  • Assist with the scheduling and coordination of new hire onboarding in order to create a welcoming experience
  • Ensure all new hire and onboarding documents are prepared, received, completed and filed
  • Assist with employee offboarding administration and exit interviews
  • Bring ideas, energy and insights that help us deliver world class people experiences
  • Act as a champion of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Other duties as required

NSSL is looking for a People & Culture Generalist responsible for providing their internal client groups and employees with support services for all HR-related matters.
