THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the VP of People & Culture, the People & Culture Business Partner (P&C BP) plays a key role in driving the employee experience and embedding a leadership principle aligned, high-performance culture. With the support of People & Culture Leaders, this role partners with leaders across the business to support the delivery of people initiatives, process improvements, and talent solutions that enhance organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, and workforce capability in the Saskatchewan office. While 50% of this person’s time will be focused on Saskatchewan, the other 50% will support the People & Culture Managers on day-to-day people functions across other regions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Partnership

• Support organizational design, change management, and workforce planning initiatives in the Saskatchewan office
• Provide insights and recommendations based on people data to guide decision-making and continuous improvement.

Performance & Talent Management

• Support the performance management framework that reflect the organization’s leadership principles.
• With the support of the People and Culture Managers, guide employees on goal setting, feedback, and development planning to build high-performing teams.

Employee Experience & Culture

• Champion initiatives that promote the company’s culture.
• Actively participate in cultural programs and engagement events that strengthen community, collaboration, and internal brand alignment.
• Work with teams on creating engagement action plans.

Policy, Process & Compliance

• Support the implementation, and communication of people policies and procedures that reflect legislative compliance and internal consistency.
• Monitor and report on key HR metrics to identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement.
• Ensure alignment with employment standards, human rights legislation, and internal governance practices.

General HR Support

• Provide day-to-day support across the employee lifecycle including onboarding, employee relations, and offboarding.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with P&C Managers in all facets of people and culture to deliver a seamless employee experience.
• Support project-based initiatives and continuous improvement efforts as assigned.
• Supporting the use and functionality in the company’s HRIS.

FIRST YEAR – MEASURES OF SUCCESS

• Establish strong working relationships with all leadership team members across Saskatchewan.
• Maintain a consistent on-site presence by visiting the Saskatchewan location at least once per week.
• Collaborate with the leadership team to review and revise job descriptions, ensuring alignment with role expectations and organizational goals.
• Support the implementation of key HR initiatives, including performance management, compensation structures, and the organization’s leadership principles.
• Demonstrate a solid understanding of Saskatchewan employment legislation and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) processes.

THE INDIVIDUAL

Given the pivotal role this individual will be expected to play in achieving the strategic objectives of the company and in supporting the success of the organization, it is essential that the successful candidate possess the following core competencies, experience, and attributes:

Education

• Post-secondary education with a specialization in Human Resources or a related field is ideal, with consideration being given to employment experience only.
• CPHR designation is an asset.

Experience

• 5-10 years in Human Resources having experienced all aspects of HR as a generalist.
• Experience in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment that is evolving and transforming would be an asset.
• Experience or understanding in the construction or land acquisition industry is highly desirable.

Competencies and Knowledge

• Knowledge of Employment Standards and Legislation: Demonstrates a thorough understanding of employment standards and legislation, applying this knowledge with confidence and accuracy.
• HR Fundamentals: Possesses a solid foundation in HR principles and practices, with the capability to effectively implement and manage HR functions.
• Business Acumen: Exhibits a strong ability to understand and integrate with the business, leveraging experience to navigate and address complex operational and HR challenges.

• HRIS Experience: Experienced with HRIS systems, including UKG or similar platforms, demonstrating the ability to effectively utilize these tools for HR management.

• Technical Expertise in Employee Relations: Understands employee relations, including conflict resolution, performance management, termination, and relevant legislation, providing informed and confident leadership in these areas.

LOCATION

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Monday – Friday in office, with occasional flexibility for necessary situations. On construction sites to connect with superintendents weekly.
