The Department of Pediatric Anesthesia at BCCH is seeking Fellowship (or equivalent) trained pediatric anesthesiologists with a passion for furthering the clinical and academic excellence of our group. Your appointment will include all clinical anesthesia responsibilities (except cardiac anesthesia) and participation in the activities of the acute pain service. It is expected that successful applicants will contribute to aspects of our academic mandate: quality improvement, education, research and Faculty development; and be active participants in our Clinical and Research Fellowship Program.
Applicants must have a medical degree and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Applicants’ anesthesia training must be recognised (or assessed as acceptable) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in British Columbia. In addition, applicants will have successfully completed subspecialty training in pediatric anesthesia. Applications will be considered from those presently undertaking subspecialty pediatric training (Fellowship or equivalent), and from applicants who have been accepted into such a training program, noting that any position offered to such applicants will be conditional upon successful completion of specialist pediatric training and references from that training program.
Clinical expertise in tertiary/quaternary centre pediatric anesthesia is essential.

We care for the province’s most acutely ill and injured children and youth, provide developmental and rehabilitation services to children and youth throughout BC, and offer a broad range of health services and specialized health programs. These include the full range of pediatric surgical services, including quaternary care neonatal, cardiac, neuro, transplant and major orthopedic/spine reconstruction surgical services, as well as interventional radiology & cardiology. There is an anesthesia-led acute pain service, and sedation services for oncology, gastroenterology, burns & radiotherapy. BCCH is a leading acute care teaching facility and conducts research to advance health care through the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute and in partnership with the University of British Columbia.
